Old Fashioned Pound Cake - cooking recipe

1 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 3/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, shortening and sugar. Beat until creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Stir to mix. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternately with the milk. Add the vanilla and mix well.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for about 1 hour 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into center of cake.
Allow to cool in pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a cake plate.
