Snickerdoodles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (Crisco)
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    2 eggs
    2 1/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves (optional)
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly until smooth and creamy the shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Sift together dry ingredients and stir in.
    Chill dough at least 1 hour, then roll into 1-inch balls.
    Roll in cinnamon sugar mixture; bake on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake 5 to 8 minutes at 400\u00b0.
    Do not overbake.
    Tops are soft.
