Ingredients

5 eggs, separated
4 Tbsp. cocoa (heaping)
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
2 c. evaporated (can) milk
1 c. water
3/4 box vanilla wafers
Preparation

In heavy boiler, combine flour, cocoa, sugar, egg yolks, milk and water.
Cook on medium heat until thickened; stir constantly. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring.
Put vanilla wafers in 2 to 2 1/2-quart ovenproof bowl.
Pour cooked mixture over vanilla wafers. Beat egg whites stiff.
Add 1/2 teaspoon flavoring and 1/2 cup sugar.
Spread on top of pudding.
Top brown in oven.
Watch carefully to keep from burning.
