Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    One ham bone
    1 lb. split peas
    3 qts. water
    1 medium onion, diced
    2 carrots, sliced
    1 potato, diced
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    1 bay leaf or 1/2 tsp. marjoram
    salt & pepper to taste
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in a large soup kettle & bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for about 3 hours.
