Banana Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 2/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 1/4 c. mashed bananas
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    2/3 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour cake pan.
    Cream sugar, shortening and eggs.
    Add mashed bananas and vanilla.
    Mix well. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
    Stir in nuts.
    Bake 40 to 50 minutes.
    Cool and frost with Caramel Icing (page 90).
