Western Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 tsp. basil
    3 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    black pepper to taste
    American cheese slices
Preparation
    Brown onions, bell pepper and beef in large skillet.
    Add tomatoes, basil, rice, salt and pepper.
    Cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
    Pour into casserole dish and cover with slices of American cheese.
    Heat in oven at 350\u00b0 until cheese melts.
    Serve hot.
