Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. dates
    1 c. hot water
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 scant tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. nut meats
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cut up dates.
    Dissolve soda in a little of the hot water, then pour all of hot water over dates.
    Add butter and stir well. Add sugar, flour, nuts and last, add egg, slightly beaten.
    Pour in greased tin and bake.
    This batter will be thin.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 35 minutes.
