Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. light brown sugar, packed
    1 egg
    3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. broken nuts
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt shortening.
    Remove from heat and blend in sugar.
    Cool.
    Stir in egg, then sifted dry ingredients. Add vanilla and nuts.
    Spread in greased 8-inch square pan.
    Bake 25 minutes.
    Do not overbake.
    Makes 16 (2-inch) squares.
