Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 green medium tomatoes
    1/2 c. cornmeal
    2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. bacon drippings or margarine
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes into 1/4-inch slices.
    Combine cornmeal, flour, salt and pepper.
    Dip tomato slices into cornmeal mixture.
    Heat bacon drippings until melted.
    Add tomato slices; cook, turning once, until golden brown.
    Makes 4 servings.
