1 large loaf French bread
8 eggs
3 1/2 c. milk
1 c. sugar, divided
1 Tbsp. vanilla
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
6 apples, peeled and sliced
Preparation

Slice bread into 1-inch thick slices.
Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan with oil and arrange bread slices tightly together.
Mix eggs, milk, 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla.
Pour half of mixture over bread. Arrange sliced apples on top and pour balance of egg mixture over top.
Take remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and mix it with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
Sprinkle over top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Serve with hot syrup.
