June'S Kidney Beans(Abington Grange Supper) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. dried kidney beans
    1/4 lb. lean salt pork
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. molasses
Preparation
    Soak beans overnight.
    Place salt pork in the bottom of a bean pot, drain the beans and to pot with all other ingredients.
    Cover with hot water and bake at 325\u00b0 for 5 or 6 hours.
    Add more water as needed and reduce temperature to 300\u00b0 for last hour.
    Add more molasses, if desired.
    Fork test, done when beans are tender, but not mushy.
    Serves 10 hungry people.
