Cracker Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. regular milk
    1 c. crushed crackers
    1/2 c. coconut
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Mix together the milk, crackers, coconut, salt and sugar; scald.
    Pour about a cup of this hot mixture over the egg yolks. Blend egg and hot milk together before returning to hot mixture. Cook until thick; add vanilla.
    Pour into baking dish and cover with meringue.
