Chocolate Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. vegetable shortening (I use Crisco)
3 c. sugar
3 c. all-purpose flour (sift 3 times)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 stick butter or margarine
6 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. cocoa
Preparation

Have all ingredients at room temperature.
Cream shortening and butter.
Add sugar and beat at medium speed for 5 minutes.
Add egg yolks and beat until the yolks disappear.
Stir flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa together.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour.
Add vanilla.
Fold in the beaten egg whites.
Pour into a 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and floured.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Let cool in pan for 30 minutes.
Remove from pan.
May be iced with your favorite chocolate icing.
