Coney Island Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 onion, chopped fine
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 tsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. oregano
    1 tsp. cumin seed
    1 1/2 c. tomato juice
    additional chopped onions for topping
Preparation
    Saute ground beef, onion and garlic. Stir frequently until meat is no longer pink (do not brown).
    Drain fat off. Add remaining ingredients and cook slowly, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 2 to 3 hours until sauce thickens. Spoon over hot dogs. Top with chopped onions, if desired.
