Boiled Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. seeded raisins
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    salt
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Boil together 3 minutes the first 8 ingredients.
    Cool.
    Sift together the remaining ingredients.
    Add to first part and bake. Can be used at holiday time for fruit cake.
    Improves with time. Can be made ahead to season.
