Hasty Hobo Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    5 c. shredded cabbage
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 lb. can white or red beans
    1 lb. frozen vegetable mix (broccoli, green beans, red peppers, corn, etc.)
    3/4 lb. smoked ham, cubed
    1/4 c. uncooked rice
    3 chicken bouillon cubes
    6 c. boiling water
    freshly grated pepper
    grated Parmesan
Preparation
    Saute cabbage and onions in butter until slightly soft.
    Add drained beans, frozen vegetables, ham and rice.
    Cook over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring to coat with butter.
