Donna'S Lasagna - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    8 oz. mild or hot Italian sausage
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can tomatoes, pureed
    2 (6 oz. each) cans tomato paste
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. dried parsley, divided
    1 Tbsp. dried basil
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 1/2 tsp. salt (divided)
    9 lasagna noodles (about 8 oz.)
    3 c. (24 oz.) cream-style cottage cheese
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
    16 oz. Mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
Preparation
    In a Dutch oven, brown ground beef and sausage; drain excess fat.
    Add pureed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, 1 tablespoon parsley, basil, garlic and 1 teaspoon salt.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
