War Time Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
2 c. hot water
4 Tbsp. shortening
2 c. raisins
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. ground cloves
3 c. flour
2 tsp. soda

Preparation

In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, water, shortening, raisins, cinnamon, salt and cloves.
Bring to a boil.
Cool.
Add flour and soda.
Pour into loaf pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for one hour and 15 minutes.
For a flat cake, use a greased 8-inch pan.
