Elephant Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large elephant
    brown gravy
    salt and pepper to taste
    25 bushels mushrooms (fresh)
6 1/2 bushels American onions, cut in squares
    17 bushels celery, diced
    2 rabbits (optional)
    7 1/2 gal. whale oil
Preparation
Cut elephant into bite size pieces.
This should take about 2 months.
    Add brown gravy and simmer.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Heat whale oil to brown mushrooms, celery and onions.
Mix all ingredients and cook over kerosene fire for 4 weeks at 465\u00b0. Yield:
    3,800 or more servings.
If more guests are expected, 2 rabbits may be added, but do this only if necessary, as most people do not like to find hare in their stew.
