Raisin Crisscross Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. lemon extract
    1 tsp. milk
    1 3/4 c. sifted self-rising flour
    1/2 c. coarsely ground or chopped raisins or nuts
Preparation
    Mix together first 3 ingredients.
    Stir in next 2 ingredients. Stir in last 2 ingredients.
    Roll into balls the size of a small walnut.
    Place balls, about 3 inches apart, on greased baking sheet.
    Flatten with a fork, dipped in flour, making a crisscross pattern.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a moderate oven (350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0), no more.
    Makes about 50 cookies.
