Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 oz. red food coloring
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 1/4 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Make paste from cocoa and food coloring; set aside.
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs and milk, then add food coloring and cocoa mixture.
    Beat well.
    Add flour and vanilla alternately with buttermilk.
    Mix soda and vinegar last.
    Add this to mixture. Beat lightly after adding this.
    Makes 3 layers.
    Cook at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
