Onion Blossom - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large Vidalia onion
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 large egg, lightly beaten
    1 c. cracker crumbs or bread crumbs
    vegetable oil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    commercial dark honey mustard or Ranch-style salad dressing
Preparation
    Peel onion, leaving root end intact.
    Cut onion vertically into quarters, cutting to within 1/2 inch of root end.
    Cut each quarter into thirds.
