Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. water
    3 egg whites, beaten
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Mix sugar; add water and cook until thick.
    Cool.
    Beat egg whites. Add vanilla, salt and the 6 tablespoons sugar.
    Add the thickened cornstarch and sugar mixture.
    Beat until smooth.
    Pour over any one-crust pie.
    This helps the meringue to keep firm.
