Italian Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. margarine
    3 eggs
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. anise or almond extract
    1 Tbsp. anise seed
    1 c. sliced almonds
Preparation
    In mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    Add 2 eggs and flavoring.
    Stir in flour mixture and mix well.
    Add nuts to batter.
    Chill well (about 2 hours).
    Shape into 3 loaves.
    Brush top with egg white from third egg.
    Bake on slightly greased cookie sheet at 300\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
    Slice into 1/2-inch diagonal slices.
    Return to oven and brown 30 minutes or until dry.
