French Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. active dry yeast
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 1/2 c. warm water
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    4 to 4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    2 Tbsp. cornmeal
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water in large mixing bowl. Let stand until bubbly, 8 to 10 minutes.
    Stir in salt and enough of the flour to make a stiff dough.
    Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead in additional flour until dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
