Cottage Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 large egg
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine flour, baking soda and salt in mixing bowl.
    Combine shortening, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla.
    Add to flour mixture. Beat until smooth.
    Pour into greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
    Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cut into 3-inch squares and serve warm with hot vanilla sauce.
