Golden Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. yellow corn meal
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 c. sifted enriched flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1/4 c. shortening (soft)
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl.
    Add egg, milk and shortening.
    Beat with beater until smooth, about 1 minute (do not overbeat).
    Bake in greased square pan or greased muffin pan at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Serve warm with butter or covered with creamed chicken, fish or meat.
